Smoke Pillar, 2024
45 x 18in, PU mesh, wood, paper, leather, monofilament, acrylic.
My interest was the creation of an intangible substance - something that feels like a wall of smoke - blocking vision but eluding touch. I stitched together Mesh hand-cut spheres with nylon monofilament. The arrows are a fatal weapon adding motion to the static pillar. The challenge was figuring out the weight distribution along a dozen meeting points of the delicate mesh, so the heaviness of the wood arrows does not distort the flexible mesh.
