The ancient letter Alef started as a picture of an ox, cattle trained for work, representing power and food. It evolved into the Latin A and the Hebrew א. Incorporating seven stages of this development, this wall sculpture merges them into one panel, painted with black ink on watercolor paper, referring to the world of writing. Metal rods are inserted into the main panel, shaped like fragments of the letters, coming outward from the paper. The rods are painted in similar gradient as the paper, gradient that hints of change. The rods are holding a smaller version of the back panel, bringing the letters closer to the viewer, and utilizing the idea of symmetry of scale, from Chaos theory.
